History of Computer
The history of computers began with simple counting devices and gradually developed into the modern computers we use today.
1. Abacus (Around 3000 BC)
The Abacus is considered the first calculating device.
It was used for basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
2. Napier's Bones (1617)
Invented by John Napier.
Used for multiplication and division.
3. Pascaline (1642)
Invented by Blaise Pascal.
It was the first mechanical calculator used for addition and subtraction.
4. Stepped Reckoner (1673)
Invented by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz.
It could perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
5. Difference Engine (1822)
Designed by Charles Babbage.
Used for mathematical calculations.
6. Analytical Engine (1837)
Also designed by Charles Babbage.
Considered the first design of a modern computer because it included a processor, memory, and input/output system.
Charles Babbage is known as the Father of the Computer.
7. First Electronic Computer (1946)
ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer) was the first general-purpose electronic computer.
It was developed by John Presper E
ckert and John Mauchly.
